Aristotle wrote of eudaimonia, which is sometimes understood as happiness. But it goes deeper than everyday pleasures or feeling good. Eudaimonia is a complex concept that is sometimes translated as flourishing and fulfilling one’s potential. It’s more about purpose than mere pleasure. To Aristotle, this eudaimonia concept of happiness was the highest human calling.
