Fav’d. Liked. Upvoted. Hearted… Uh, Plus 1'd.

It takes awhile for Internet communication to evolve and catch up with social norms. It was years before Facebook developed the thumbs up “like” as light acknowledgement, and Twitter is still trying to figure out if their users should fav or heart.

Quora has a matter-of-fact upvote, downvote or simply “thank.” On Instagram at the other end of the engagement spectrum, the heart is so ubiquitous as to be virtually meaningless and require a whole new code of relationship maintenance.

Medium does seem to need a “fist bump” equivalent of “I see you” that’s on a different level than a recommend or a response.

I think you have some good suggestions for what that should be, Dheeraj Dhobley.

Will we see this from Medium? \_(ツ)_/¯
