Searching for how to make a difference

Google searches for “how to make a difference” reached their highest levels ever this year — by far

In April and May of this year, these searches increased by about 25% above the previous all-time high, according to Google Trends.

Over a normal summer, typical these searches bottom out as people look to relax, take vacation and recharge — as you can see from this chart from last July and August.

This year there was again a seasonal dip, but people are still searching how to make a difference at nearly twice the normal rate we’d see in the typical July and August.

In the past week, these searches have again started to rise dramatically — more than double the number of such searches as last year at this time.

This data shows that people truly do have a desire to help when so many others are suffering, like right now.

Our challenge is to channel and give outlets to that drive.

What can you do to make a difference?
